About Syringe Pumps

Syringe pumps are used to deliver precise amounts of fluid at specific time intervals. There are two main types of products: infusion pumps and withdrawal pumps. Infusion pumps are used to administer relatively small amounts of fluids at high, but controlled pressures. Withdrawal pumps are used to remove fluid samples automatically, typically in medical or pharmaceutical applications. Specifications for both types of syringe pumps include minimum and maximum discharge flow, syringe size, number of pumps per assembly, minimum and maximum step rate, accuracy, reproducibility, physical dimensions and weight. Power sources, applications, features, media, and certifications are additional considerations.

There are many different power sources for syringe pumps. Manual pumps are designed to be driven by hand or foot power. Pneumatic pumps use a compressed air source. Pump-only mechanisms and solar-powered products are also available. Electrically-powered syringe pumps use either direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC) waveforms. DC pumps typically operate with 6, 12, 24, or 32 VDC. AC pumps use single-phase or three-phase power, depending on the requirements of the application. Single-phase syringe pumps operate with 100, 115, 200, or 230 VAC. Three-phase syringe pumps operate with 230 to 460 VAC, or 480 to 890 VAC.

Products & Services Related to Syringe Pumps

Centrifugal Pumps
Centrifugal pumps consist of a set of rotating vanes, enclosed within a housing or casing, that are used to impart energy to a fluid through centrifugal force.
Condensate Pumps
Condensate pumps are used to collect and transport condensate back into a steam system for reheating and reuse, or to remove unwanted condensate from an HVAC or appliance collection pan.
Diaphragm Pumps
Diaphragm pumps use a diaphragm that moves back and forth to transport liquids from one place to another.
Drum Pumps
Drum pumps are used to transfer materials from a container into a process or other container. They may be electrically, hydraulically, or pneumatically powered depending on the working environment or application.
Gear Pumps
Gear pumps use intermeshing gears to pump various types of liquids. Typically, one gear is the driver and the other is free wheeling. The gears have very tight tolerances so that the fluid being pumped cannot pass through them. Common uses for gear pumps include high pressure, metering, and flow control applications.
Metering Pumps
Metering pumps are precision pumps, which dispense an exact amount of material. They are used in a variety of chemical dosing and metering applications.
Screw Pumps
Screw pumps are rotary, positive displacement pumps that have one or more screws to transfer fluids or materials along an axis.
