Flow Control and Fluid Transfer

Machines and devices, including valves, meters and computer controllers, used to manage the movement of materials.

Density and Specific Gravity Sensing (127 companies) - Any method used to determine density and specific gravity including hydrometers, digital instruments, pycnometers, etc.
Flow Sensing (1667 companies) - Flow measurement instruments are used to determine flow rate by monitoring the amount of media passing during a specific time. Devices within this category can monitor liquids, gases or solids, and measure in units of mass, velocity or volume.
Level Sensing (1407 companies) - Devices used to detect or measure level of liquids, gases or solids, within pipes or tanks, or to detect the interfaces between different materials.
Pumps (3520 companies) - Machines and devices used for the raising, compression or transference of a variety of materials.
Related Flow Transfer Products (6188 companies) - Products related to the material flow and handling of goods.
Valve Actuators and Positioners (621 companies) - Devices designed to automatically control and monitor the position of valves, in relation to their open or closed positions.
Valves (4124 companies) - Devices that regulate the flow of gases, liquids, or loose materials through piping by opening, closing, or obstructing ports or passageways.
Viscosity Sensing (146 companies) - Instruments and sensors for measuring the viscosity (resistance to flow) or viscoelastic properties of liquid or molten glass and plastic.

The flow control and transfer category covers a wide spectrum of products designed to facilitate, control, maintain, meter, or read the flow of material through hoses, pipes or tubing. The material in question may be liquid, gaseous, or semi-solid (colloids and slurries). The following families fall within flow transfer and control: valves, valve actuators and positioners, dispensing valves, pumps, flow sensing, level sensing, density and specific gravity sensing, viscosity sensing, and miscellaneous related products.

Valves are apparatus designed to maintain, restrict, or meter the flow of materials through pipes, hoses, tubing or entire systems. They generally function by allowing flow while in their open position, and restricting flow when closed. The valve family is broken down into product areas based on the mechanism that is used to restrict flow. The following are the main valve product area: ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, diaphragm valves, gate or knife valves, globe valves, needle valves, pinch valves (for both industrial and medical applications), plug valves, control valves (1/4 turn - isolation and multi-turn, throttling), pressure relief valves, and AC and DC solenoid valves.

Dispensing valves are a separate category from regular valves. While regular valves work to transfer material throughout a system, dispensing valves are designed to meter a specific amount of material and deposit said material into another medium, area, or locale. As with regular valves, dispensing valves are divided into areas based upon their mechanism of transfer. Products within this category include: single component dispensing valves, positive displacement valves, spray valves, diaphragm valves, pinch valves, and needle or spool valves.

Pumps are used in flow transfer and control to move a material (liquid, gas, or colloids and slurries) from one area to another. Major product areas include cantilever, centrifugal, dosing diaphragm, dosing syringe, double diaphragm, gear (positive displacement), jet, lobe, metering, peristaltic, piston / plunger, rotary vane, screw, turbine, vacuum and waste pumps.

Flow transfer and control sensors include a wide variety of flow controllers, switches, meters and detectors. They are designed to analyze flow quality, meter flow and transfer rates, or detect leaks of either liquids or gases.
